Cast your dreams where the tide meets possibility—every shoreline holds an adventure waiting to be reeled in.
Why list your shore fishing guide business on the ShoreCaptain platform?
ShoreCaptain makes fishing more accessible, affordable, and enjoyable by eliminating the costs and complexities of traditional boat charters. We partner with expert shore fishing guides and private fishing spot owners to provide fun and memorable fishing experiences from shore, pier, jetty, wade, ice, or surf.
The idea took shape in the spring of 2024 when friends Paul and Chris spent a few days fishing in Apalachicola, Florida. After discovering that the lowest cost for a five-hour charter boat was $550 plus a tip, they opted to try their luck shore fishing instead. What they found was an incredible experience: they connected with fellow anglers and reeled in catches like redfish, sharks, speckled trout, black snapper, and blue crabs.
During their trip, Paul and Chris explored the area and identified several private docks and shorelines that looked ideal for fishing. However, without permission from the landowners, these spots were off-limits. This sparked a groundbreaking idea: what if shoreline property owners could rent their prime fishing spots to anglers? This concept offered benefits for everyone—anglers gain exclusive access to top-tier locations, and property owners can earn as much in a few hours as they might from a short-term rental overnight.
And so, ShoreCaptain was born. Combining expert shore fishing guides with the opportunity to rent private fishing spots creates a win-win solution. The result? Unforgettable fishing experiences with no long boat rides, no seasickness, less time commitment, and a fraction of the cost. ShoreCaptain isn’t just about fishing—it’s about making the sport more accessible, enjoyable, and authentic.

Shore Guided Fishing license requirements by state
Florida and most Gulf and Atlantic coastal states (including Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas) do not require a special license to guide fishing trips from shore—only a regular fishing license is needed. However, Maine, California, and Pennsylvania do require shore guides to be state-licensed. Maine requires a Registered Maine Guide with a Tidewater specialty, California mandates a CDFW Guide License, and Pennsylvania issues a Fishing Guide Permit with insurance requirements.
